Designer Niels Diffrient aimed to design an office chair that automatically adapts to the user, allowing them to move freely from posture to posture. Diffrient’s unique approach removed complexities found in other chairs, such as cumbersome recline levers and back tension dials for a truly ergonomic task chair. As a result, he developed a recline mechanism that perfectly adjusts to the user, definitively reinventing modern task seating to be truly simple, functional and beautiful.

The Freedom F211 chair is designed to give the maximum ergonomic benefit to the sitter with a minimum number of manually-adjusted controls, as it is the most ergonomic chair made today. Once the chair is fitted, no further adjustment is required. The idea is that movement, which is essential for a healthy body, shouldn’t be constricted by locking mechanisms and manual controls. In other words, sitting comfortably isn’t something you should have to think about. Intelligent counter-balance recline mechanism automatically provides the right amount of support through the full range of recline motion, regardless of user size and weight. No tension springs to adjust. No recline locks to set/release. During recline, the angle between torso and legs opens up for better body function. User maintains near constant eye level during recline. Extra motion of the backrest during recline automatically adjusts to the changing needs of the spine. Revolutionary armrests move in tandem to eliminate the dangers of uneven arm positioning. Position-sensitive headrest moves into place when you recline and out of the way when you sit upright. Offered in many wave and vellum fabrics, and upgradeable to leather. The frame is Titanium or graphite, and offers an upgrade to chrome. Warranty:  5 year warranty on Fabric/Cushions.  Lifetime warranty on all other parts.  This warranty is applicable to the initial purchaser only and is non-transferable. Humanscale warrants that, at the time of customers acceptance, the product will be in good working order and will be free from defects in material and workmanship and does not apply to normal wear and tear or damage caused by accident, neglect, misuse, or improper installation or operation. In the event a product is defective, Humanscale, at its option, will either repair or replace the defective product.  Warranty does not cover damage caused by transportation or carrier of the product.  Warranty is based upon a single 8-hour shift usage.
